Okay. This is not saying I got a new Surface but trying to bring life to a broken device. The Surface RT was one of Microsoft’s first generation devices to compete with the Apple iPad. The device came
complete with Windows 8(.1) RT and Office 2013 with an ARM Processor.
Why did I cross out the word complete above? The device and platform is not complete and was well abandoned. Tonight I am working on making the device whole again with installing third party applications on the platform as an experiment.
On GitHub a few weeks ago before I was in the hospital again I discovered the Windows RT 8.1 Development Tool while sitting at Epcot and working on ways to keep my time occupied at home. I quickly downloaded it and now tonight I am taking the time to install the tool and some third party Apps to the device.
The tool allows developers to install third party emulators, IDEs, and all the cool tools to bring some life back to the device for some of us who think it is great to “tinker” with technology.
I will update my site with my status on this project as soon as I can. For the mean time the tool can be found on GitHub.
